Industry News: Christian Market

Rev Ike & Son Bishop Xavier

WHAT'S GOING ON IN THE CHRISTIAN MARKET?

Sisters thanks for stopping by for some tea. Its been years since I was in the entertainment

loop but I've received lots of email requesting my tidbits.

Let me start with a little music:
This fall is full of come backs and returns. In the seculiar market there is lots of buzz about Whitney Houston but we have a few in the Gospel Market. Lisa Page Brooks, who was the lead singer for Witness returns with a new album due out in late October.

Be Be & Ce Ce will be back after 13 years. Kim Burrell has a new album coming out along with a mega birthday bash in Houston TX which will be held in late August. There is lots of buzz about Allyn Johnson out of Washington, DC he is a great pianist who helps lots of other people in th eindustry but this is his first debut album. The Word Network has signed the show Soulaughable, a family comedy show, for a second season. The show is hosted by Flex Alexander.

On a sad note: Rev. Frederick "IKE" Eikerenkoetter died at age 74, he was one of the original "prosperity gospel preachers," his teachings were contrary to the word of God but he was popular for his prayer cloth ministry back in the 1970's and 80's.

The Black Christian Book Market needs our support. I can't believe that Christian Fiction after eleven years, I am back to trying to promote this genre. Its really sad that Christian Book stores do carry such titles. We are re-establishing our Inspiring Sisters Book club. Our first book is Ideal Wife--please support us by going through the blog to purchase the book.

Carol's Daughter Launch New Disney Inspired Line

Sisters thanks for stopping by for a tea break.
I just think this is the cutest product.
I have been fussing for years about the lack of Princess of color at Disney.
You know I am a princess in my head. I am happy that Carol's Daughter is launching this new
line based on The Princess and the Frog.

I am looking forward to movie, I really hope its a movie of quality and not filled with "vodoo type sterotypes." The Princess and the Frog bath collection is a limited edition product so start ordering and let them know that I told you about it. This would be a great Christmas gift for the
little ladies in your life.

Moms its a nice product, you know I like natural ingredients.
The hair and bath & body products made with natural ingredients such as aloe leaf juice, cranberry extract, sunflower seed oil, olive oil etc.

The collection includes a shampoo, conditioner, hair detangler and bubble bath packaged in packaging featuring scenes from the movie. You don't have to be African American to support the products, everyone uses bath and body product; however, its great for delicate African American hair.

Eunice Shriver An Encouraging Spirit

Eunice Shriver: An Encouraging Spirit

Sisters thanks for stopping by for tea time.
I want to remember Eunice Shriver--
who asked the question what more can YOU be doing?

Can you answer that question as you deal with issues
in your home, your children school, your community,
or even your church? Are you just complaining about
things or are you trying to make a difference?

I had the opportunity to meet her when I began my career in journalism. I was impressed that this woman saw a need and decided to do something about it.

This woman decided to take a step forward and fight for those in our society who are often ignored. She had a vision for change and she lobbied for the change to be a reality.

A woman whose vision has inspired more than 3 million people in all 50 states and 181 countries. As you go through your day dealing with your own issues. I want to remind you that there is nothing impossible for GOD.

Many people forget but people with disabilities were not always treated with respect in our country and throughout the world. In many communities having a child with disabilities is considered a "curse." Many families would hide their children in institutions.

Eunice Shiver vision changed the hearts of many people around the world. May the Lord give
us all courage to step into our destiny. To stand for what we believe in our heart is right, despite the opposition. The courage to take a small step towards making a difference.

As you go through your day, I will like to encourage you with the Special Olympics oath as you work on God's ministry in your life. The words of Mrs. Shriver, "What more can you be doing?"

Special Olympics oath:
Let me win, but if I cannot win
let me be brave in the attempt.

Healthy Lunch Ad Insults Obama Girls.

http://www.pcrm.org/news/downloads/School_Lunch_Metro_ad_pylon_v1.pdf

Praise the Lord!

Sisters thanks for stopping by for some tea. I have to tell you about my latest concern...the Healthy School Ad I saw in the train station in Washington, DC.

Okay, I hate that I am actually promoting this by telling you this but there is an ad out trying to get Congress attention in reference to the Child Nutrition Act

There is an picture of a young African American girl who points out that “President Obama’s daughters get healthy school lunches” and asks, “Why don’t I?”

I am angry that don't an advertiser is throwing these children into their politics without their parents consent. On behalf of the President Obama let me say, "Advertisers your ploy is just plain stupid." Don't mess with people children.
The President's children have not been elected into office.

President Obama daughters don't know why the schools have bad lunches, I am sure has to do with the school administrators are they not the ones in charge of vendors and food for their school systems. Let's be honest for once, many school systems get kickbacks and incentives from food vendors shall I start naming companies?

The sad truth is if you want your kids to have a healthy lunch in public schools then you need to pack it yourself or send your child to a private school where they really care about the well-being of your child.

Christians Should Not Be Overweight

Praise the Lord!
Sisters thanks for stopping by for some tea. The word of God tells Christian that physical exercise is important but spiritual exercise is much more important, for it promises a reward in both this life and the next" (1 Tim. 4:8).

All modern Christian woman seems to struggle with weight. I stuggle with exercising every day. I find it very hard especially as I age. I just don't want to exercise. I think many of us beat ourselves up because we are suspose to have faith and self-control.

Christians women are suspose to know better we are suspose to be living testimonies but every event we have at church seems to revolve around food. If I had a gathering tonight at my home you would expect some sort of food. I tend to joke about my diet woe but this is not a funny thing.

If you struggle with weight and food that's when you turn to the word of God for strength.
His word reminds us that food is temporary pleasure. When we center our attention on food,
we take it off the Lord just like Eve did in the Garden of Eden.

Eve was attracted to what looked delicious she didn't focus on God. When you lose focus on God in life you allow the devil to distract you to things you don't need or want. Are you eating things based on your desires not your physical NEED. Are you letting the spirit of the Lord guide you at the dinner table?
