Sisters in Christ, Come on in and grab a cup of tea. Let's talk about ..is Are Church Harvest Festivals, Just A Little Fun?
I heard someone at work make the comment that Harvest Festival is one of the biggest events for most Christian Churches.
What an awful thought. Imagine, the only thing some kids remember or know about their neighborhood church is the big annual Halloween party at the church?
There are so many people who do not understand basic biblical principles already and now our practices doesn't go with our doctrine. H-E-L-L-O PEOPLE! that is called confusion. Who is the author of confusion? The Devil.
However, let's try not to fool our- selves, most people realize that these are just Halloween parties at the church. I think that is why so many people send their kids. There is normally no preaching or teaching, just games and candy at the church.
"But isn't this an evangelist tool to bring souls to Christ," if you are a church leader I think you need to examine the effectiveness of such a program. I hear more kids say that they got saved at Vacation Bible School that at the Halloween party.
Christians can not longer do the things they use to do before they got saved. We become different or new (Heb. 11:13-16; 1 Pet. 2:11). It doesn't matter if you grew upon the tradition of Halloween. Guess what? The Lord is going to ask you to give up, change, refrain from lots of things you use to do.
Halloween is still a pagan holiday, it is known as "Satan's Feast Day." If you do not believe me just ask anyone who is into the occult like, Wica. There are lots of pagan things repackaged for this new generation.
Christian moms, Don't forget that your actions speaks louder than words. Many of you are sonfusing your children. Just ask them tonight. Children see their family praying, going to church, volunteering, giving, homeschooling or go to private schools and they celebrate Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving and "Halloween (a.k.a. Harvest Festival)."
Really people! Who are you fooling--the Lord sees everything.
I want you to do things that reflect the light and not darkness. The fight is not against ex-witches, non-Christians or those against Halloween. The fight is “against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:12, NKJV).
I am sure this "Harvest Night Festival" was started by some misguided church; however, now thousands of churches have continued this miseducation to a generation of Christian children.
Despite the deteriorating state of the world in spiritual and moral values, there are millions of children seeking the truth of Jesus Christ but the sad thing is on these festival nights no one seem to be interested in the spiritual harvest.
Would the Lord really be pleased?
"The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He would send forth labourers into His harvest." - Luke 10:2.
The harvest the Lord was talking about was not a glorified or Christianized "Halloween" party. We shouldn't be using the church for harvest bazaar, parties and engaging in profiteering in the name of God. The harvest that Christians should concern themselves with is the one that has to do with the salvation of the righteous in this last days.
This Halloween take time and make a prayer of protection. Pray over both those who engage in prayer warfare and over those who will be out trick-or-treating or at Halloween parties. October 31 is a prime recruiting time for witches and Satanists… and a time for interested kids to experiment.
Pray that the Lord keeps our kids from falling prey to those who worship the enemy.

I remember my Mom not allowing my siblings and I to attend a church's "Harvest Party" as young kids for these same reasons, and as an adult it's never occurred to me to start getting involved and celebrating!
ReplyDeleteIt was just last night that I was watching a video where a sister-on-Christ said that "Harvest Festivals" put on by churches are evil practices that deceive parents & children alike. I grew up in a Christian family, as did my husband; however, our parents allowed us to be involved in "Trick OR Treat" & "Harvest Festivals" at school. I do NOT remember any church we attended having a "Harvest Festival". Sadly, unknowingly we allowed our children to participate in "Trick OR Treat" & took them to one "Harvest Festival" at our church...believing them to be a good alternative to "Trick OR Treat". Jump ahead to some twenty years ago & the Lord put it on my heart that to be involved in any way with "Trick OR Treat" was NOT for me as His daughter to be involved in. Although my husband was NOT convicted in the same manner, he was agreeable that we should NOT involve ourselves with anything going on on October 31st.
ReplyDeleteI grieve over NOT knowing what I was introducing my children to...in NOT only allowing but encouraging them to participate in both. Our eldest (our sibling-in-Christ) is very involved in "Trick OR Treat" & even followed a tradition of having parties on that day for our Grandchildren & their friends. To our daughter it is a day of innocent fun & she sees nothing wrong with it...although for over twenty years I have tried to get her to understand what an evil night it is & how harmful it is to the innocent.
Please pray that all three of our offspring come to understand that truth & that our eldest stop involving our Grandchildren in that practice & for their protection against any plan of satan to grab their hearts & souls! Our other two grown children see nothing wrong with "Trick OR Treat" & pass out candy at their homes...thankfully they do NOT have children to involve in that evil. Sadly, our family is scattered around the USA & so we as Grandparents & parents are NOT in the position of being able to offer a family night centered on Christ Jesus instead of "Trick OR Treat".
