What Will People Remember About You?

Sisters in Christ, Come on in and grab a cup of tea. Let's talk about ...What Will People Remember About You?

Author/Poet Maya Angelou died earlier this week. According to the AP News Service, Angelou A childhood victim of rape, she broke through silence and shame to tell her tale in one of the most widely read memoirs of the 20th century. A black woman born into poverty and segregation, she recited the most popular presidential inaugural poem in history.

However, Maya Angelou was famous before the presidential inaugural poem at least in the African American community. At most Historically Black institutions her works were required reading. I am not sure if she was actually a Christian but her words spoke volume to many. Her words encouraged many. Her testimony helped many who experience any type of childhood shame or abuse. Her honesty helped many heal. Her words impacted many. People like Mrs. Angelou make you examine your own life.

What will people remember about you?
Many Christians tend to give people money which is nice; however, it doesn't connect you to actual people.
Giving money doesn't allow you to share your gifts and talents or even let others get to know you. If the Lord called you home today what do you think your family, friends, neighbors or coworkers would truthfully say am you and your impact on them?

Ouch! Would everyone in your sphere of influence have good or bad things to say about you? Sometimes Christians focus on the things or work they do and forget about how they actually are. If you were in heaven looking down (You know that's not biblical we can't communicate ones we die) --let's just use our imagination, would you hear people say she was a ... mean cheapskate, gossip, bully, phony, nasty person or she touched the life of many. What would people say about you?

In order for people to remember you in life you really have to touch the life of others. In order to have a good life, you really need to enjoy your life in whatever you decide to do. I think many Christian kids are not encouraged to live a full life in whatever area of interest. Christian women need to me encouraged to live an exciting full life where they can inspire others doing what they love to do. Maya Angelou used her time inspire others in the way she knew how. Hey its biblical, so go for it today and YOU do YOU!

Ecclesiastes 5:18  Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot.
