Sisters, come on in and have a cup of tea and lets talk about ..."I Love My Hair," the latest preschool video on Sesame Street. This has been such a hot video among mommies. Everyone has been blowing my email up about the new character on Sesame Street. Singing about her hair.
If you never had hair issues then you will not appreciate this new character. But for millions of women who feel pressured to be blond or go straight--this is a liberating video they wished they had when they were in preschool. When my sister brought it up in a conversation I said let me go find this video.
The video is cute, it encourages the viewers to embrace their hair--whatever the texture, whether it's curly, frizzy, or straight as a pin--the song reminds everyone that they too are beautiful. It reminds of Gods word,
I am fearfully and wonderfully made. If we could all believe and embrace God's word even in preschool.

ReplyDeleteAs I have aged it's gotten very dry, frizzy & gray.
So I keep my hair cut really short these days.
