Why Christians Still Faking and Celebrating Halloween?

Sisters, come on in and grab a cup of tea and lets talk about ...Christians still celebrating Halloween?

As for me and my household when I got saved the first thing we realized wasn't glorifying God was to celebrate Halloween. We don't support all those other alternative either.

The Lord helped us realize that trying to dress things up on Halloween was still just as bad. So when my church has its annual Harvest Fest, OctoberFest, Hallelujah Night, Trunk or Treat or whatever cute name they decide, we do not participate.

I was surprise when my children were younger and friends and relatives we angry, dissapointed and down right mad because my kids did not participate in Halloween. I would tell them I was a Christian and they keep saying my kids would resent me when they become older or they were missing out on a childhood experience. No one seem too concern about my children soul. They seem more concern about by children social standing with their peers.

The word reminds us that we show be in the world not "of it." I believe it means we live in this world for right now, but as we live in this world we are to live for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be seperate and holy before God in Him by not living the lifestyle(s) of the world (fornication, homosexuality, sorcery, false religions, idol worship, etc).

If nonbelievers celebrate Halloween and dress up in costumes and go door to door for candy and the church
has kids come out to the church on Halloween and dress up and pass our candy what is the difference. Are Christians celebrating or not celebrating Halloween? What is the national number of children actually being SAVED at this church sponsored Halloween parties? Are we confusing the next generation by showing that Christians still don't comprehend or believe in absolute truth?

Halloween has strong roots in paganism and is closely connected with worship of the Enemy of this world, Satan. The History of Halloween hasn't change. The only people who seem to have change has been Christians. We are now calling wrong right and right wrong. Making excuses that we don't want our children to feel left out among nonbelievers. Wow!!! What is happening to "so called" Christian parents?

Instead of trying to follow the crowd may I encourage you and your family to try something new and  do nothing and enjoy another day the Lord has made without celebrating a pagan holiday. October 31 or Halloween provides an excellent time to remind our children that, as Christians, we are different, and not of this world (Heb. 11:13-16; 1 Pet. 2:11).

What do you think? Do you celebrate at one of these alternative programs?

No problem, if you don't believe in fornication you shouldn't have any children to be concerned about. Lighten up. God understands and forgives. That is the true beauty of God. There is no need to fear him since He will only do what's best for us, now and in any afterlife we may deserve.

    Peace and Love

You are right, As Christian we have to make sure our actions are promoting Chist.

I don't see the point of one of the comments. Christians shouldn't be fornicating. We should know that its best to have children in a God ordained marriage. What born-again believer is going around just having sex. If they say they are a believe and are still sexing outside marriage then they need to start reading their Bible because that is foul and wack!!

Standing ovation! The church is so busy trying to bring in the world that we are beginning to take on and adapt to some of its ways (i.e trunk or treat, etc.). Yes we are in the world but we must not be "of" the world - we must be seperate from the world. There should be a clear distinction between the world and the church and often times there is not which is why some feel the church has lost its credibility! The word says: do not conform to this world but be transformed by the renewing of our minds. The word says to take on the new man and to shun the very APPEARANCE OF EVIL. The word calls evil evil and has never tried to dress it up as good for the sake of reaching others for Christ(i.e alternative programs - trunk or treat). Wrong is wrong - evil is evil and there is no lightening up on that - especially when it calls us to be the salt and light of the earth to go out and share the good news. We've gotten in the habit of feeling like well God forgives us so I'll sin today and repent tomorrow but don't you know for some tomorrow has been too late?! Don't we know that we cant and must not take advantage of God's love and forgiveness for us. We certainly wouldnt want anyone to take advantage of the very thing we DIED for them to have. How ungrateful is that! We as the church must take a stand and say enough is enough and then just maybe we'll be taken serious and we'll see the power of God unleashed in our lives, in our homes, in the four walls of the church, in this nation and abroad like never before! The church must stand up and take its rightful place because it appears we've become just something to do on Sunday mornings. So as it relates to the church watering down or dressing up Halloween - I stand with this Inspiring Sister and I call wrong just what it is... WRONG!

  4. I would like to respond to your first anonymous comment.
It is very possible to have children without fornication. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines fornication as " consensual sexual intercourse between two persons not married to each other (see Adultry).
Now, believe it or not, in this day and age some people do still get married before having children!
That being said, I agree that God does understand and forgive. But this should not be used as a "safety net" where you purposely do what you know is wrong just because you know God will forgive you.
My children are grown and I had not discovered Jesus and become Christian until after they were, so it was never an issue for me when they were younger. I no longer decorate with witches and such, but I do like to decorate for autumn.
    And, I am not anonymous.
